I woke up to the sound of a text message on my phone, it was my friend Olashas, reminding me that today was her birthday and i had promised alongside Toun to come cook for her. Timi was still sleeping..i loved the way his chest went up and down as he snored gently..I picked up my phone to call Olashas and wished her a happy birthday.

It was two weeks to the election, although our popularity was almost at par with Nationals', Most people gave us a slight lead. I didnt want to dwell on it though, in the past we have heard of rigged elections, either to favor the state government or the school authorities..

Timi woke up and immediately cringed as rays of sunlight blinded his vision.

me: Goodmorning..

Timi: My love goodmorning..

me: take it easy with all this 'my love' thingy, i have not made up my mind yet..

Timi: No problem, i have got all the time in the world.

me: I see...i will be going to school soon, would make Oats and buy Akara before i leave. i know you dont joke with your breakfast.

Timi looked at me closely. He wasnt Jealous, he was surprised and intrigued..

Timi : You are attracted to him?

me: Yes.

Timi walked up to me and held me in his arms..his fingers brushed through my hair..

Timi : It was my fault. if i was with you, you would never had liked anyone else...

me : You seem so sure..

me: No Timi..

Timi : But you wanted to?

me : Your questions are getting weird...

Timi : answer me Tana...i just want to know...

me : I didnt want to, but i am not sure i would have stopped him if he had tried..

Timi : Please dnt sleep with him. give me a chance to claim all of your heart again.

Then we kissed. It was that kind of kiss that starts slowly, but ends up like you guys have been starving. I pushed him away gently before his hand found my panties...i ran into the bathroom to take my bath..

Timi : You cant run from me forever, you know?

me: sharrap and let me bath..when i am done i will get your Akara, while you take your bath..

Timi : Yay...i missed all those your bathing gels....makes me smell as fresh as your kutukutu...

Toun was waiting for me in the audotorium when i got to school. Timi had dropped me with his ugly looking car. The grin on her face when i stepped out of his car didnt go unnoticed..

Toun : did he sleep in your house?

me : is that the goodmorning you were supposed to tell me?

Toun : Oya no vex, goodmorning ma...so did he sleep over...did you people straff?

me : You be mumu, i swear...

Toun: Talk jor.

me : yes he slept over, and no...i am not that cheap...

Toun : so whats up with you guys?

In as much as i wanted to tell Toun about what happened between Annie and Timi, i couldnt...

me: We are taking things slow..

Toun : what of Naetochukwu?

me: i dont knw o...since you really like him, you can have him...

Toun : Loool...Jafar came to see Abayomi this morning..

i dont know why, but hearing Jafar's name, made my heart skip..

me : what was his visit about?

Toun : i dont know, but Abayomi wants you to meet him at noon at the main- campus..

The classes we has that morning was a torture. Toun and i didnt understand a thing that was said, our absence from class was taking its toll. I spent the rest of my time day-dreaming of Timi, he had promised to come pick me up after classes...i had the butterflies in my stomach...

I was with Abayomi as he had requested by noon. we were seated in the law faculty library. That was one of the most private places one could be at the Main-campus.

Abayomi : Tana i have a problem?

me : does it have anything to do with Jafar?

I didnt want Jafar to have a problem with us..As regards friendship, i didnt want to have to have to choose between Abayomi and Jafar..

Abayomi: No... not Jafar

me: Then what?

Abayomi : I think i might be responsible for Kofo's pregnancy..

i laughed...there was nothing else to do than just smile...

Abayomi : What is funny?

me : i dont know...

Abayomi : she has promised to tell Toun about it..

me : Wow...i get,why you are scared now...

Abayomi : I need you to pay her a visit. i need you to convince her not to..

me : why me?

Abayomi : she respects you..she always told me so..

me : when you are digging her yh?

Abayomi : be serious please...i dont want Toun to break up with me...

me : she wouldnt jor...

Abayomi : she assured me that if my name was linked with kofo's again, it would be over...

me : Okay, i will talk to Kofo...but we are not even sure that you are resppnsible...we all saw National pound her...

Abayomi : Please do it for me...

me : what did Jafar come for this morning?

Abayomi : He said Eli has been freed from Panti...and he was back in campus....

me : who is Eli...?

Abayomi : Like Jafar , he is the number 1 of another cult group...he had been arrested for possesion of weapons..

me : so why was he released and allowed back in campus?

Abayomi : He is important for the state Elections, his boys control Ijebu....Politicians payed for his release...

me : so how is that a problem?

Abayomi : He hates Jafar....

me : isnt that expected?

Abayomi : He is supporting National....Eli is very dangerous. Jafar wanted us to know....

Timi came for me as promised, he picked up Toun too, who we dropped at her apartment. I felt a bit uncomfortable keeping what Abayomi told me away from her. There were too many things i was keeping away from her, i didnt like it. I planned to visit Kofo later that night, but that was after i took a nap. Thoughts of Eli came to my mind on the way home..

Me : Timi, tell me about Eli..

Timi : What about Eli?

Me : i just want to know about him

Timi : First it was Jafar, now its Eli, whats up with you and this kind of guys?

Me : Abayomi told me he was released from prison and he is in National's Camp...

Timi : serious?

Me : yep...so i need to know about him...

Timi kept looking sideways as he spoke...

Timi : he has been in this school for probably 7yrs.. he is one of those guys that isnt interested in graduation. There was a gist about him having a problem with one of his friends, after his friend thought they had sorted their ish out, he burnt the guy's car. That was when he was in 100 Level. Another incidence was when he visited a guy in his house, unfortunately, the guy wasnt home, but his girlfriend was. it was reported that he brought out his pistol and commanded the girl to strip after which he raped her. On his way out he met the friend coming back in and hugged him, thanking him for Lunch.

I was dumbfounded, but Timi wasnt done..

Timi : there was a party that he wasnt invited to, but he went anyways...the party was held in a hotel. After eating and drinking, he went to the female rest-room and waited. An unfortunate girl came in to ease herself..he was hiding at d corner when the girl bent down to pee...He was said to just appear and told the girl not to stand up...that she should just turn around in the same position she was. He straffed her on the toilet, holding his pistol. when the tears filled girl reported to the host of the party, he said he was powerless...Before then Eli's notoriety had become known around the school. Then the attacks didnt stop. Especially between his group and Jafar's. That was before Jafar was number 1, the number 1 then was Dante..

Me : Dante has graduated?

Timi : nope, after too many deaths off campus, a truce was organised by the student union government under kakaki. Eli and Dante were said to have agreed to no violence for the entire semester. Eli was said to have hugged Dante, and all around was glad. After the talks, on the way home, Dante was attacked at Ago garage...the first shot killed Muski, his body guard..Dante brought out his gun to shoot but they were too much on him. Eli noticed that the bullets didnt seem to penetrate Dante, although it weekend him. He tried running but didnt go far before he was brought down. Cutlass was used on him but they left blunt marks , his body was fortified. So Eli told his boys to hold down Dante, while he told others to bring a spoilt car engine that was lying idle in the garage. The engine was lifted just above Dante's head, then it was released.
His head bursted.

me : oh my God...

Timi : yes, Eli is devilish....

me :what problem does he have with Jafar? Abayomi told me he hates Jafar..

Timi : it was rumored that he had led a squad to take out Jafar. Jafar had been cornered in class when Eli bought out his pistol to kill him, people that were there said he told Jafar to beg for his life, same thing he told Dante before he killed him, but Jafar didnt, instead he raised up his hand, but as Eli looked at Jafar's hands, Jafar buried the pen he was holding in Eli's left eyes. With screams of pain,Eli shot blindly as Jafar ran out of the class through a window..he was chased down to the basketball court, that was were Uche got to him. Uche was with a pump-action that scared the poo out of the assailants. In the hospital,Eli was placed under arrest for possesion of weapons, he was transferred to prison from the hospital...with an eye.

me : Wow...all these is getting scary Timi....

Timi : dont worry, i would protect you...

me : thanks...

It didnt seem right for me to tell Timi that it was Jafar i was worried about. i didnt want anything to happen to him...

i was making jollof sphag and boiled eggs for Timi and i for dinner. He wanted to spend another night in my house, i was liking the idea. while he was watching Californication, i was in the kitchen, i decided to call Jafar to check up on him.

Jafar : Hey...

me : hi...

Jafar : you just remembered me....

The baga did not know i had been thinking of him since hearing of Eli..

Me : lol, how is Uche and the rest of your guys?

Jafar : we are good, how are you?

Me : im good...

There was a weird silence before he spoke...

Jafar : is there something you want to tell me?

Me : Jafar, Abayomi told me about Eli...i am scared..

Jafar : oh...dnt worry, we will take care of things...you shouldnt stay alone though...how about staying with Toun?

Me : Im not alone

Jafar : You are with another friend?

me : yes, i am with Timi

Jafar : oh...He will be spending the night?

me : yes....

If the earlier silence was weird, this was worse....i didnt know why i felt guilty, Jafar could have like 3 girls in his bed now...

Jafar : nice then, cool to have someone take care of you...

me : How is fatima and her friends?

Jafar : they are good. Time for me to sleep...my regards to Timi...

me : Goodnight...

After the call i climbed into bed with Timi..he wrapped me in his arms as we both watched Tv. my fingers went through the bristles of his hair when i remembered that i hadnt gone to see Kofo.. I immediately picked up my phone to call her but she didnt pick..After a couple more tries, i stopped and went to bring the food from the kitchen...As we ate, i spoke to Timi..

Me : so has Annie been trying to reach you. You guys spoke on the phone?

Timi : nope. why ask?

Me : i dont want to be left in the dark

Timi : no dear...i wont keep anything from you...

Me : honesyly Timi, are we going to win this election?

Timi : Yes...though its a tight race, im sure we will pull through...

Me : I really do hope so, we have come a long way...

Timi cleared the dishes after we finished eating, i was too lazy to wash the plates. promised myself to wash them before classes tomorrow....

I went to the bathroom,to take my bath. hoping that Timi would have slept before i finished. i was trying as much as possible not to have sex with him so soon. Lord knows i wanted it badly..

Kofo was buried two days later at Ago-iwoye cemetary. The only family member of hers present for the burial was her younger brother. Most of us who were kofo's friend attended, even National came to pay his respects.

Abayomi had confessed to Toun that he still slept with Kofo after she had warned him. Toun told him it was okay, she understood what he was going through...but she broke up with Abayomi...

She had to move in with me for a while, till her heart got unbroken...

Me : So have you spoken with Abayomi today?

Toun : Yes i called him this morning, he is doing fine...

Me : alot of people are saying it was a lecturer that impregnated her, i am sure you must have heard...

Toun : It doesnt matter if it was Abayomi or not. The fact is that he straffed her when he told me he had stopped...

Me : The poor boy needs you right now, atleast go visit him

Toun : What is this?...am i disturbing you here ?...or is Timi complaining?

Me : Ah ahn...no jor...you know i want you around...oya lets change the topic...

Toun : Good...i am visiting Naetochukwu tonight....he invited me to his house...

Me : same Naetochukwu?

Toun : Yes. or you still fancy him?

Something had changed about Toun since the break up with Abayomi...She sounded angry all the time...

Me : Will you follow us to campaign at Main- Campus this evening?

Toun : Ofcourse i would, You and Abayomi are my pals for life...

Me : thank you..

There was no Electricity, it was a very hot afternoon. Although one of Obasanjo's campaign promises had been to provide more electricity, it had gotten worse. Thank God Yar'adua and Buhari were playing it easy...Atiku followed Obasanjo's footsteps..

I wondered if i was like them, making promises just to win an Election. i shuddered to think of the violence usually perpetuated, unfortunately even my own elections was showing signs of violence. Two cult groups were using the elections as a show of supremacy..We the candidates and the students in general were at the middle..

Timi and Abayomi came to pick us up by 4pm for the campaign, some other guys followed them with their cars too...The singing and dancing took a lower tone, we had to honor Kofo. We seemed to be getting an upper hand as a result of the death.. Students who remembered her as our former campaign manager vowed to vote for us..Even Yewande came to express her sympathies with us....

Shortly before the end of the campaign, Naetochukwu came with his Avalon and scooped Toun away, Abayomi saw him leave with her...As he and Timi dropped me off at home, he shared his fears with me..

Abayomi : do you think she will take me back someday?

Me : truthfully?

Abayomi : yes Tana...

Me : i dont think so, she says you remind her of her Dad...

Abayomi : Wow.....

Me : yes...

Abayomi : you think she will straff Naetochukwu?

Me : that is really not my business....

Timi : i hate that boy mehn....

Abayomi : chai...Adetoun has left me for real...

The tear that rolled down from his cheek got to me...he really loved her...i vowed to scatter Toun and Naetochukwu's plans, must win Toun back for my bestie...my oga..

Toun came in very late smelling of alcohol. I was glad she even decided to come back that night. I allowed her to sleep, intending to talk to her about the Naetochukwu ish when we got to school..

So as we went to the cafetaria to eat around noon, i brought up the topic...

Me : How is Naeto?

Toun : he is good, never knew he had an interesting sense of humour...

Me : Abayomi saw you leave with him...

Toun : Tana ! my life doesnt evolve around Abayomi...

Me : The guy loves you....

Toun : i am not ready to talk about him...stop it Tana...

Me : so how was the date?

Toun : it was good, drank guiness for the first time...

Me : did you guys...hmmmm hmmmmm?

We were seated now, waiting for our order...

Toun : No...i kissed him though...

Two guys came to seat opposite us, i recognised Daniel, he visited John in my compound a couple of times...After exchanging pleasanteries....i continued with Toun...

Me : so did he ask you out?

Toun : no o...but i enjoyed myself...he will come to the house tonight...hope you dont mind?

Suddenly there was a hush in the cafetaria, two guys came in..all eyes were on them, unfortunately, they were coming in our direction...One of them stopped to talk to a light skinned lady, two tables away. The other one came directly to us...

Daniel and his friend looked at him. but decided to ignore him, a lot of eyes were on them, i was sure they didnt want to be seen like sissies...

Guy : una no dey hear word abi?...

Daniel and his friend once again ignored him, until the guy lifted his shirt from the side. showing the shinny metal butt of a gun.

They stood up without further ado...

Toun : Tana lets go...

beneath the table i was sendind a text to Jafar....i could smell trouble around me..My raising up my head to answer Toun, coincided with the other guy joining the first on the seat...He didnt need to introduce himself, i could see he had just one eye..

Eli : Tana .... howfar na...hope say i meet una well?

He had a face that would have been called handsome if not for the numerous scars. He was smoking a stick of cigarette even though a big sign said "no smoking"..

The other guy sitting next to him had his eyes fixed on Toun. I was scared shitless...

Me : Hello, i dont know you...

We stood up to leave..my heart was beating fast, i hoped he wasnt gonna stop us..

Toun : yes we have...

She rolled her eyes at him...

Toun became very humble, i quickly sat down along-side her..

I looked around the cafetaria, the place that was filled up was now empty..i was shaking....

Eli : Tana, you go need step down. you and Abayomi
.i go check am today but him no dey Campus..but you go tell am say i don discuss with you. abi?

Me : I will discuss with Abayomi.

Eli : People dey always say, Eli like wahala...Eli dis, Eli dat...but no be so..

Me : okay...

Eli : The SUG president go be National..We don gree teytey
..tell Abayomi say make him no believe say we no fit get am o
..and you yourself...nowhere to hide..

The lady running the cafetaria came with a plate of fried beef and dropped it carefully infront of him..

Me : can we go now?

Eli : Not yet...

He and his other guy ate in silence....i was wondering how long it would take for Jafar to come or send his peeps, i eas freaking out..but then i realised it would be dangerous for Jafar to come, Eli might just take his revenge..

It was around 2pm when he stood us and commanded us to follow him outside...His Black BMW was packed beside the cafetaria, his colleague whom he called Orisa ushered us in...

Me : where are you taking us to?

Eli : Lol...no fear..

The story about his rape escapades flooded my brain...

Me : Eli, allow us go...i will discuss with Abayomi about stepping down..

He ignored me, instead he lit up another cigarette and drove out of Mini-campus...

He continued driving in silence, Orisa rested his head on his chair, sipping a bottle of London dry gin..

I got a text on my phone...it was Jafar....

Jafar = I am behind you guys...dont be scared...

Fool! i was scared for him more...

Me = He has guns, Jafar dont worry, he wnt harm us...but he will kill you...

I hoped the text i sent to Jafar brought him to his senses....

Jafar = dont worry...

As if on cue, Uche's Hillux overtook Eli with Uche driving and Scanty by his side, while Through the side mirror, Jafar's Benz was directly behind him...

Eli noticed Uche's Hillux, he looked at me and smiled... Toun was completely petrified...

Eli : your people have come for you abi?

i didnt answer...Uche was slowing down on purpose...Eli couldnt move as fast as he wanted.. He picked up his phone with his left hand dialled a number and put it on speaker..it was Jafar he called...

Eli : howfar Jafar?

Jafar : Eli...

Eli : na because of these jews you dey follow me like this?

Jafar : Doz girls na my people...

Eli : You don bam them?

Jafar : Eli , free those girls...

Eli : and if i no free them?

Jafar : We go murder you for this town...

Eli : Lol...you no fit na...before i count 10, if you and Uche no commot for my side i go scatter Tana head....

Jafar remained silent...

Eli : you dey doubt me abi?

Jafar hung up....

Orisa brought out his pistol and placed it on my head....

Uche swerved to the right, allowing Eli have the road...through the mirror, i saw Jafar back down...

Eli started whistling as he drove us towards Ijebu-Igbo...
